For deep darkness is morning to all of them; for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.
The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief, my soul and my body also.
When I declared not my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.
I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.
As many were astonished at him — his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the sons of men—
“For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears; for a comforter is far from me, one to revive my courage; my children are desolate, for the enemy has prevailed.”
And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch.”
