He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver; and he fortified the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, Samaria, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill.


And he said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’ ”


And about sunset a cry went through the army, “Every man to his city, and every man to his country!”


And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood, and the harlots washed themselves in it, according to the word of the Lord which he had spoken.


Evil shall slay the wicked; and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.


who frustrates the omens of liars, and makes fools of diviners; who turns wise men back, and makes their knowledge foolish;


They have spoken falsehood and divined a lie; they say, ‘Says the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfil their word.
