It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.


A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools.


Like one who binds the stone in the sling is he who gives honor to a fool.


A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor; but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days.


but if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the citizens of Shechem, and Beth-millo; and let fire come out from the citizens of Shechem, and from Beth-millo, and devour Abimelech.”


When it was told to Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and cried aloud and said to them, “Listen to me, you men of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
