“Say to the people of Israel, These are the living things which you may eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.


Every animal which parts the hoof but is not cloven-footed or does not chew the cud is unclean to you; every one who touches them shall be unclean.


Nevertheless among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.


And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.


And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.


And the swine, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.


Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all eagerness, examining the scriptures daily to see if these things were so.


Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you,


Every animal that parts the hoof and has the hoof cloven in two, and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat.


And the swine, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcases you shall not touch.
