For you have exacted pledges from your family for no reason and stripped the naked of their clothing.


You have given no water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.


“If I have withheld anything that the poor desired or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail


if I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing or a poor person without covering,


whose loins have not blessed me, and who was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;


Happy are those who consider the poor; the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble.


Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.


If your enemies are hungry, give them bread to eat, and if they are thirsty, give them water to drink,


She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.


oppresses the poor and needy, commits robbery, does not restore the pledge, lifts up his eyes to the idols, commits abomination,

So give as alms those things that are within and then everything will be clean for you.


But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.
