Are not Aba´na and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.


And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mor´decai alone; for they had showed him the people of Mor´decai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasue´rus, even the people of Mor´decai.


A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.


A good man obtaineth favor of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.


A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.


The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.


He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.


A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.


He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.


It is an honor for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.


Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go;


An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.


a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,


Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.


The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.


Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
