And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab–sa´ris and Rab–sha´keh from Lachish to king Hezeki´ah with a great host against Jerusalem: and they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.


He trusted in the Lord God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.


Thus shall ye speak to Hezeki´ah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.


As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?


My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?


Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.


How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?


The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?


These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
