If thou prepare thine heart, And stretch out thine hands toward him;


Be merciful unto me, O Lord: For I cry unto thee daily.


I stretch forth my hands unto thee: My soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.


My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: As for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.


Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,


For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping,


O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:


Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.


Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: And he shall hear my voice.


If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;


My tears have been my meat day and night, While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?


Mine eye is consumed because of grief; It waxeth old because of all mine enemies.


Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, And all my members are as a shadow.


My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.


Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, And whom God hath hedged in?


They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.


He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: He hath made my chain heavy.
