When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.


And Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with the guards and warming himself at the fire.


Pilate was surprised to hear that he should have already died. And summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead.


Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.


And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.


Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man,


who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God.


After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.


But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.


Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing as well as men.


And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
