1 Now when all the kings of the Amorrhites, who dwelt beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of Chanaan, who possessed the places near the great sea, had heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the children of Israel, till they passed over, their heart failed them: and there remained no spirit in them, fearing the coming in of the children of Israel.

But early in the morning, when Nabal had digested his wine, his wife told him these words: and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.


So the Lord the God of Israel destroyed the Amorrhite, his people of Israel fighting against him. And wilt thou now possess this land?


And the Lord delivered them up into the hands of Jaban king of Chanaan, who reigned in Asor. And he had a general of his army named Sisara: and he dwelt in Haroseth of the Gentiles.


The five princes of the Philistines, and all the Chanaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hevites that dwelt in mount Libanus, from mount Baal Hermon to the entering into Emath.


After the death of Josue, the children of Israel consulted the Lord, saying: Who shall go up before us against the Chanaanite, and shall be the leader of the war?
