So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were going to marry his daughters. ‘Get up,’ he said. ‘Get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city! ’  But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.


They had not gone very far from the city when Joseph said to his steward, ‘Get up. Pursue the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, “Why have you repaid evil for good?


When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, act decisively, for then the Lord will have gone out ahead of you to strike down the army of the Philistines.’


For you will not leave in a hurry, and you will not have to take flight; because the Lord is going before you, and the God of Israel is your rear guard.


One who breaks open the way will advance before them; they will break out, pass through the city gate, and leave by it. Their King will pass through before them, the Lord as their leader.


But understand that today the Lord your God will cross over ahead of you  as a consuming fire;  he will devastate and subdue them before you. You will drive them out and destroy them swiftly,  as the Lord has told you.


The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid of them,  for I have handed them over to you.  Not one of them will be able to stand against you.’


‘Go and consecrate the people. Tell them to consecrate themselves for tomorrow,  for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are things that are set apart among you, Israel. You will not be able to stand against your enemies until you remove what is set apart.


‘Get up,’ he told her. ‘Let’s go.’ But there was no response.  So the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.


Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; ten thousand men followed him, and Deborah also went with him.


That night the Lord said to him, ‘Get up and attack the camp, for I have handed it over to you.


They got up early, and just before dawn, Samuel called to Saul on the roof, ‘Get up, and I’ll send you on your way! ’ Saul got up, and both he and Samuel went outside.
