But the sight of the wicked  will fail. Their way of escape will be cut off, and their only hope is their last breath.


Dreadful sounds fill his ears; when he is at peace, a robber attacks him.


The light in his tent grows dark, and the lamp beside him is put out.


He pulls it out of his back, the flashing tip out of his liver. Terrors come over him.


For the morning is like darkness to them. Surely they are familiar with the terrors of darkness!


The house he built is like a moth’s cocoon or a shelter set up by a watchman.


He surveys everything that is haughty; he is king over all the proud beasts.


His source of confidence is fragile; what he trusts in is a spider’s web.


Your enemies will be clothed with shame; the tent  of the wicked will no longer exist.


The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.


The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.


and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.
