6 And when he learned of Mordecai’s ethnic identity, it seemed repugnant to Haman to do away with  Mordecai alone. He planned to destroy all of Mordecai’s people, the Jews,  throughout Ahasuerus’s kingdom.

At the beginning of the reign of Ahasuerus,  the people who were already in the land  wrote an accusation against the residents of Judah and Jerusalem.


But when the matter was brought before the king,  he commanded by letter that the evil plan Haman had devised against the Jews return on his own head  and that he should be hanged with his sons on the gallows.


‘Have you not noticed what these people have said? They say, “The Lord has rejected the two families he had chosen.”  My people are treated with contempt and no longer regarded as a nation among them.


Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great fury, because he knows his time is short.
