And after six days, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and he led them onto a lofty mountain separately.


Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached him, with her sons, adoring him, and petitioning something from him.


And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and saddened.


And Jesus, walking near the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).


And continuing on from there, he saw another two brothers, James of Zebedee, and his brother John, in a ship with their father Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them.


And soon after departing from the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.


And as he sat at the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew questioned him privately.


And the Apostles, returning to Jesus, reported to him everything that they had done and taught.


Because of this also, the wisdom of God said: I will send to them Prophets and Apostles, and some of these they will kill or persecute,


And when the hour had arrived, he sat down at table, and the twelve Apostles with him.


And he sent Peter and John, saying, "Go out, and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat."


Now the same was true of James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were associates of Simon. And Jesus said to Simon: "Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men."


And when the Apostles returned, they explained to him all the things that they had done. And taking them with him, he withdrew to a deserted place apart, which belongs to Bethsaida.


Philip went and told Andrew. Next, Andrew and Philip told Jesus.


And leaning against the bosom of Jesus was one of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved.


Therefore, she ran and went to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and she said to them, "They have taken the Lord away from the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."


These were together: Simon Peter and Thomas, who is called the Twin, and Nathanael, who was from Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.


Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, the one who also had leaned on his chest at supper and said, "Lord, who is it who shall betray you?"


This is the same disciple who offers testimony about these things, and who has written these things. And we know that his testimony is true.


After this, many of his disciples went back, and they no longer walked with him.


And we have believed, and we recognize that you are the Christ, the Son of God."


Jesus answered them: "Have I not chosen you twelve? And yet one among you is a devil."


One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him:


And when they had entered into the cenacle, they ascended to the place where Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Jude of James, were staying.


And they cast lots concerning them, and the lot fell upon Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven Apostles.


Then he killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.


Now Peter and John went up to the temple at the ninth hour of prayer.


Next, he was seen by James, then by all the Apostles.


And the same one granted that some would be Apostles, and some Prophets, yet truly others evangelists, and others pastors and teachers,


Therefore, holy brothers, sharers in the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession: Jesus.


Peter, Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the newly-arrived elect of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,


Simon Peter, servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have been allotted an equal faith with us in the justice of our God and in our Savior Jesus Christ.

And I, John, heard and saw these things. And, after I had heard and seen, I fell down, so as to adore before the feet of the Angel, who was revealing these things to me.
