And Abram said: "Lord God, what will you give to me? I may go without children. And the son of the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus."


And immediately the word of the Lord came to him, saying: "This one will not be your heir. But he who will come from your loins, the same will you have for your heir."


But God heard the voice of the boy. And an Angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, saying: "What are you doing, Hagar? Do not be afraid. For God has heeded the voice of the boy, from the place where he is.


After these things occurred, God tested Abraham, and he said to him, "Abraham, Abraham." And he answered, "Here I am."


After these things occurred, it was reported to Abraham that Milcah, likewise, had borne sons for his brother Nahor:


where the Lord appeared to him on the same night, saying: "I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you, and I will multiply your offspring because of my servant Abraham."


Even so, your father has circumvented me, and he has changed my wages ten times. And yet God has not permitted him to harm me.
