But when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he made no answer.


So Pilate asked him, “Are yoʋ the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “Yoʋ have said it yoʋrself.”


So Pilate asked him again, “Do yoʋ make no answer? See how many things they are testifying against yoʋ!”


But Jesus made no further answer, so Pilate was amazed.


From that point forward Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If yoʋ release this man, yoʋ are not a friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar.”
