“Why do yoʋr disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”


So the Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are they doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?”


Then they said to him, “Why do the disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but yoʋrs eat and drink?”


So the Jews began persecuting Jesus and seeking to kill him, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
