Why do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in my hands?


Sustain me, that I might be saved, And always look to Your laws.


Of old I have known Your witnesses, That You have founded them forever.


I delight myself in Your laws; I do not forget Your word.


For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, Your laws I have not forgotten.


As it has been written, “For Your sake we are killed all day long, we are reckoned as sheep of slaughter.”


I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Messiah יהושע our Master, I die day by day.


Are they servants of Messiah? – I speak as beside myself – I am more, in labours much more, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths many times.

But Dawiḏ swore again, and said, “Your father knows well that I have found favour in your eyes, and he says, ‘Do not let Yehonathan know this, lest he be grieved.’ But truly, as יהוה lives and as your being lives, there is but a step between me and death.”
