Now Yosĕph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim. And Yosĕph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Mitsrayim.


The land of Mitsrayim is before you. Settle your father and brothers in the best of the land, let them dwell in the land of Goshen. And if you know of capable men among them, then make them chief herdsmen over my livestock.


And they brought Asah’ĕl and buried him in his father’s burial-site, which was in Bĕyth Leḥem. And Yo’aḇ and his men went all night, and they came to Ḥeḇron at daybreak.

These were the potters and those who dwell at Neta‛im and Geḏĕrah; there they dwelt with the sovereign for his work.


Poor is he who works with a lazy hand, But the hand of the hard worker makes rich.


The hand of the hard worker rules, But the lazy is put to compulsory labour.


When you sit down to eat with a ruler, Look well what is before you;


All that your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom in She’ol where you are going.


And the sovereign spoke with them, and none among them all were found like Dani’ĕl, Ḥananyah, Misha’ĕl, and Azaryah, so they stood before the sovereign.

And Dawiḏ came to Sha’ul and stood before him. And he loved him greatly, and he became his armour-bearer.


And when the words which Dawiḏ spoke were heard, they reported them to Sha’ul, and he sent for him.
