“And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire compassion and not offering,’ you would not have condemned the blameless.
and said to Him, “Do You hear what these say?” And יהושע said to them, “Yes, have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nurslings You have perfected praise’?”
יהושע said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejeted has become the chief corner-stone. This was from יהוה, and it is marvellous in our eyes’?
“For in the resurrection they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers of Elohim in heaven.
‘I am the Elohim of Aḇraham, and the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ’? Elohim is not the Elohim of the dead, but of the living.”
But go and learn what this means, ‘I desire compassion and not offering.’ For I did not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.
