He was oppressed and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, but He did not open His mouth.


And as He was accused by the chief priests and the elders, He answered not.


And Pilate asked Him, “Are You the Sovereign of the Yehuḏim?” And He answering, said to him, “You say it.”


And Pilate again asked Him, saying, “Have You no answer? See how much they witness against You!”


But יהושע still gave no answer, so that Pilate marvelled.


From then on Pilate was seeking to release Him, but the Yehuḏim shouted, saying, “If you release this One, you are not Caesar’s friend. Everyone who makes himself a sovereign, does speak against Caesar.”
