Then Dawiḏ asked the young man who informed him, “Where are you from?” And he answered, “I am the son of a sojourner, an Amalĕqite.”


And Dawiḏ said to him, “From where do you come?” And he said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Yisra’ĕl.”


“And he said to me, ‘Who are you?’ So I answered him, ‘I am an Amalĕqite.’


The righteous regards the life of his beast, But the compassion of the wrong is cruelty.


So they said to him, “Please explain to us! For whose sake is this evil upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And from what people are you?”


For the judgment is without compassion to the one who has shown no compassion. And compassion boasts over judgment.


and gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. And when he had eaten, his strength came back to him, for he had not eaten bread nor drunk water for three days and three nights.
