From spoil won in battles they dedicated gifts for the maintenance of the house of the Lord.
In those days I saw in Judah men treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them on asses; and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day; and I warned them on the day when they sold food.
Did not your fathers act in this way, and did not our God bring all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.”
But I warned them and said to them, “Why do you lodge before the wall? If you do so again I will lay hands on you.” From that time on they did not come on the sabbath.
Moreover I and my brethren and my servants are lending them money and grain. Let us leave off this interest.
and thou didst make known to them thy holy sabbath and command them commandments and statutes and a law by Moses thy servant.
but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the wild beasts may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.
Honor the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce;
For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a man has, not according to what he has not.
