Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
As they went out, they came upon a man of Cyrene, Simon by name; this man they compelled to carry his cross.
And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha.
