dread came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake.


It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes; there was silence, then I heard a voice:


who makest the winds thy messengers, fire and flame thy ministers.


and they will be dismayed. Pangs and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in travail. They will look aghast at one another; their faces will be aflame.


And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, give heed to the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood up trembling.


Then the king's color changed, and his thoughts alarmed him; his limbs gave way, and his knees knocked together.


But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.


Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation?


Of the angels he says, “Who makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.”
