A prophet of the Lord named Oded was there. He went out to meet the army that came to Samaria and said to them, ‘Look, the Lord God of your ancestors handed them over to you because of his wrath against Judah,  but you slaughtered them in a rage that has reached heaven.


And I said: My God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift my face towards you, my God, because our iniquities are higher than our heads and our guilt is as high as the heavens.


We tried to heal Babylon, but she could not be healed. Abandon her! Let each of us go to his own land, for her judgement extends to the sky and reaches as far as the clouds.


‘Get up!  Go to the great city  of Nineveh  and preach against it  because their evil  has come up before me.’


The great city  split into three parts, and the cities of the nations  fell. Babylon the Great was remembered in God’s presence; he gave her the cup filled with the wine of his fierce anger.
