‘For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.


So they answered Jesus, ‘We don’t know.’ And he said to them, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.


‘He answered, “I don’t want to,” but later he changed his mind and went.


‘Listen   to another parable:   There was a landowner, who planted a vineyard, put a fence round it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower.   He leased it to tenant farmers and went away.


Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar  or not? ’


‘It is like   a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his servants,   gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert.


Or those eighteen that the tower in Siloam   fell on and killed #– #do you think they were more sinful than all the other people who live in Jerusalem?


I am speaking as to sensible people. Judge for yourselves what I am saying.


Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work,  because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.
