They struck the men who were at the entrance of the house, both young and old, with blindness  so that they were unable to find the entrance.


Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death;  the whole community is to stone him. If he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death, whether the resident foreigner or the native.


But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him, how they might kill him.


Then their eyes were opened,  and they recognised him, but he disappeared from their sight.


Jesus therefore no longer walked openly  among the Jews but departed from there to the countryside near the wilderness,  to a town called Ephraim, and he stayed there with the disciples.


‘Rabbi,’  the disciples told him, ‘just now the Jews tried to stone you,  and you’re going there again? ’


While you have the light,   believe in the light so that you may become children of light.’ Jesus said this, then went away and hid from them.

But the man who was healed did not know who it was,  because Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.


As he was passing by, he saw a man blind from birth.


They yelled at the top of their voices, covered their ears, and together rushed against him.


David was in an extremely difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him,  for they were all very bitter over the loss of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
