‘But he told him, “If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.” ’


Even though he had performed so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in him.


If I had not done the works   among them that no one else has done,   they would not be guilty of sin.   Now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.


Jesus answered, ‘Truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw   the signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled.


‘What sign, then, are you going to do so that we may see and believe you? ’ they asked. ‘What are you going to perform?


Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never cast out.


For this is the will of my Father:   that everyone who sees the Son   and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise   him up on the last day.’


But there are some among you who don’t believe.’ (For Jesus knew from the beginning  those who did not  believe and the one who would betray  him.)
