When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and robe, pulled out some of the hair from my head and beard, and sat down devastated.


The righteous see this and rejoice; the innocent mock them, saying,


so that godless men should not rule or ensnare the people.


If you see oppression of the poor  and perversion of justice and righteousness in the province, don’t be astonished at the situation,  because one official protects another official, and higher officials protect them.


Your eyes  are too pure  to look on evil, and you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. So why do you tolerate those who are treacherous? Why are you silent while one  who is wicked swallows up one  who is more righteous than himself?


Paul and Barnabas boldly replied, ‘It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first. Since you reject it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles.


Oh, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgements and untraceable his ways!
