It is in my heart now to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel  so that his burning anger may turn away from us.


For I will not accuse you for ever, and I will not always be angry; for then the spirit would grow weak before me, even the breath, which I have made.


Lord, do not be terribly angry or remember our iniquity for ever. Please look #– #all of us are your people!


Go, proclaim these words to the north, and say, “Return, unfaithful Israel. This is the  Lord’s declaration. I will not look on you with anger, for I am unfailing in my love. This is the  Lord’s declaration. I will not be angry for ever.


Why have these people turned away? Why is Jerusalem always turning away? They take hold of deceit; they refuse to return.


I have paid careful attention. They do not speak what is right. No one regrets his evil, asking, “What have I done? ” Everyone has stayed his course like a horse rushing into battle.


‘ “Look, every prince of Israel  within you has used his strength to shed blood.


Woe to those who dream up wickedness and prepare evil plans  on their beds! At morning light  they accomplish it because the power is in their hands.


Both hands are good  at accomplishing evil: the official and the judge demand a bribe; when the powerful man communicates his evil desire, they plot it together.
