For disaster from God terrifies me, and because of his majesty I could not do these things.


Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in a time of distress, the nations will come to you from the ends of the earth, and they will say, ‘Our ancestors inherited only lies, worthless idols  of no benefit at all.’


Lord, the hope of Israel, all who abandon you will be put to shame. All who turn away from me will be written in the dirt, for they have abandoned the Lord, the fountain of living water.


The person who trusts in the  Lord, whose confidence indeed is the  Lord, is blessed.


The Lord will roar from Zion and make his voice heard from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the Israelites.


The Lord is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; he cares for those who take refuge  in him.


For this reason take up the full armour  of God, so that you may be able to resist  in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.
