Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so the slacker is to the one who sends him on an errand.


Everyone with a proud heart is detestable to the  Lord; be assured,  he will not go unpunished.


There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, yet is not washed from its filth.


When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners? ’


And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, ‘This man welcomes sinners  and eats with them.’


But the Pharisees and their scribes  were complaining to his disciples, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners? ’


When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, ‘This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him #– #she’s a sinner! ’


The Lord will not be willing to forgive him. Instead, his anger and jealousy will burn against that person, and every curse written in this scroll will descend on him. The Lord will blot out his name under heaven,


But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,


In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. All of you clothe yourselves with  humility towards one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.   ,


These people create divisions and are worldly,  not having the Spirit.
