Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus.  He was famous among the Jews and highly esteemed by many of his relatives.  He continued to pursue prosperity for his people and to speak for the well-being of all his descendants.


After all this took place, King Ahasuerus honoured Haman, son of Hammedatha the Agagite.  He promoted him in rank and gave him a higher position than all the other officials.

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings. He will not stand in the presence of the unknown.


Then Belshazzar gave an order, and they clothed Daniel in purple, placed a gold chain round his neck,  and issued a proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.


Daniel  distinguished himself above the administrators and satraps because he had an extraordinary spirit,  so the king planned to set him over the whole realm.


and rescued him out of all his troubles. He gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and over his whole household.
