When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, ‘I am God Almighty.  Live  in my presence and be blameless.


These are the family records  of Noah. Noah was a righteous man,  blameless among his contemporaries;  Noah walked with God.


Be wholeheartedly devoted to the Lord our God  to walk in his statutes and to keep his commands, as you are today.’


There was a man in the country of Uz  named Job.  He was a man of complete integrity,  who feared God and turned away from evil.


Then the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity,  who fears God and turns away from evil.’


Be perfect,   therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.


Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold  of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus.


Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal  this also to you.


‘Therefore, fear the Lord and worship him in sincerity and truth.  Get rid of the gods your ancestors worshipped  beyond the River Euphrates and in Egypt, and worship the Lord.


Be alert   and strengthen   what remains, which is about to die,   for I have not found your works complete before my God.
