When the woman from Tekoa came  to the king, she fell face down to the ground, paid homage,  and said, ‘Help me, Your Majesty! ’


Then he said to Gehazi, ‘Say to her, “Look, you’ve gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you?  Can we speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army? ” ’ She answered, ‘I am living among my own people.’


As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, ‘My lord the king, help! ’


So the woman got ready and did what the man of God said. She and her household lived as resident foreigners in the land of the Philistines for seven years.


The king had been speaking to Gehazi,  the attendant of the man of God, saying, ‘Tell me all the great things Elisha has done.’


When the king asked the woman, she told him the story. So the king appointed a court official for her, saying, ‘Restore all that was hers, along with all the income from the field from the day she left the country until now.’


He took up the case of the poor and needy; then it went well. Is this not what it means to know me? This is the  Lord’s declaration.


She left the place where she had been living, accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, and travelled along the road leading back to the land of Judah.
