On  the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month of the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Judah’s King Jehoiachin, in the year Evil-merodach became king of Babylon, he pardoned King Jehoiachin  of Judah and released him  from prison.

In just three days Pharaoh will lift up your head  and restore you to your position. You will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand the way you used to when you were his cupbearer.


On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he gave a feast for all his servants. He elevated  the chief cupbearer and the chief baker among his servants.


King Jehoiachin of Judah, along with his mother, his servants, his commanders, and his officials,  surrendered to the king of Babylon. So the king of Babylon took him captive in the eighth year of his reign.


Nebuchadnezzar deported Jehoiachin to Babylon. He took the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officials, and the leading men of the land into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.


A king’s heart is like channelled water in the  Lord’s hand: He directs it wherever he chooses.


I will hurl you and the mother who gave birth  to you into another land,  where neither of you were born, and there you will both die.


And I will restore to this place Jeconiah  son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah  who went to Babylon” #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #“for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.” ’


Jeremiah therefore said to Zedekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “If indeed you surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon,  then you will live, this city will not be burned, and you and your household will survive.
