So Joab sent someone to Tekoa  to bring a wise  woman from there. He told her, ‘Pretend to be in mourning: dress in mourning clothes and don’t put on any oil.  Act like a woman who has been mourning for the dead for a long time.


Jeroboam said to his wife, ‘Go and disguise yourself,  so they won’t know that you’re Jeroboam’s wife, and go to Shiloh.  The prophet Ahijah is there; it was he who told about me becoming king over this people.

‘Whenever you fast, don’t be gloomy like the hypocrites. For they disfigure their faces   so that their fasting is obvious to people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward.
