For they have abandoned me; they have bowed down to Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, to Chemosh, the god of Moab, and to Milcom, the god of the Ammonites.  They have not walked in my ways to do what is right in my sight and to carry out my statutes and my judgements as his father David did.


Solomon followed Ashtoreth,  the goddess of the Sidonians, and Milcom,  the abhorrent idol of the Ammonites.


At that time, Solomon built a high place  for Chemosh,  the abhorrent idol of Moab, and for Milcom,  , the abhorrent idol of the Ammonites, on the hill opposite Jerusalem.


Solomon loved the Lord   by walking in the statutes of his father David,  but he also sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.


As for you, if you walk before me as your father David walked, with a heart of integrity and in what is right, doing everything I have commanded you, and if you keep my statutes and ordinances,


But since my servant Caleb has a different spirit and has remained loyal to me, I will bring him into the land where he has gone, and his descendants will inherit it.


Therefore, Hebron still belongs to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite as an inheritance today  because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, completely.


My brothers who went with me caused the people to lose heart, but I followed the Lord my God completely.
