And whoever does not take up his cross, and follow me is not worthy of me.


But he has no root in himself, so it is only for a time; then, when tribulation and persecution occur because of the word, he promptly stumbles.


Then Jesus, gazing at him, loved him, and he said to him: "One thing is lacking to you. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me."


And they compelled a certain passerby, Simon the Cyrenian, who was arriving from the countryside, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to take up his cross.


For who among you, wanting to build a tower, would not first sit down and determine the costs that are required, to see if he has the means to complete it?


And carrying his own cross, he went forth to the place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew it is called the Place of the Skull.


And when they had established priests for them in each church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed.

And all those who willingly live the piety in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
