The night Jesus spoke these words was not a calm one. He was hours from His arrest, hours from the garden, hours from the cross. The disciples were afraid, and into that trembling room, He said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you."
Not a promise that the storm would not come. The storm was already gathering. What He offered was something the storm could not touch, His own peace.
