But for Your sake we are slain all day. We are counted as sheep for slaughter.


Arise, awaken to my defense, to my cause—my God and my Lord!


I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people all around who have taken their stand against me.


“Now I will arise,” says Adonai. “Now I will be exalted. Now I will lift Myself up.


Though I walk amid trouble, You revive me. You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand delivers me.


For our soul sinks down to the dust. Our belly cleaves to the earth.


Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Adonai, awake, as in days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not You who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the dragon?


Now, Adonai our God, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone are Adonai!”


Adonai arises to contend a case, and stands to judge the people.


Adonai executes justice— judgments for all who are oppressed.


Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, as a warrior shaking off wine.


Lift Your steps toward the perpetual ruins— an enemy has done all evil to the Sanctuary!


Like a dream when one awakes, thus when You arise, my Lord, You will despise their form.


For no guilt of mine, they run and set things up. Awake! Help me! Look!


A psalm of David. Adonai, oppose those who oppose me. Fight those who fight me.


They say: “With our tongue we’ll prevail. We own our lips—who can master us?”


Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For Adonai had ordained to thwart Ahithophel’s good counsel, so that Adonai might bring evil upon Absalom.


For an enemy pursues my soul. He crushes my life down to the ground. He makes me dwell in darkness, like those long dead.
