Let the righteous strike me— it is kindness. Let him correct me— it is oil on my head —my head will not refuse it. Yet still my prayer is against their wickedness.


He who spurns discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever accepts correction will be honored.


Do not speak in the ears of a fool, for he will disdain the wisdom of your words.


A mocker dislikes one who corrects him; he will not go to the wise.


“Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet, then turn and rip you to shreds.


One who remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed— without remedy.


One who rebukes a man will in the end find more favor than one with a flattering tongue.


“You are not to hate your brother in your heart. Instead, you are to firmly rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.


Leave them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”


and they informed the king, saying: “Behold the prophet Nathan is here.” When he came in before the king, he prostrated himself before the king with his face to the ground.


The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Yes, there is still one by whom we may inquire of Adonai—Micaiah son of Imlah—but I hate him, because he never prophesies good concerning me, only evil.” But Jehoshaphat said, “May the king not say so!”

The wise in heart accept commands, but a babbling fool comes to ruin.


A wise son heeds his father’s discipline, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.


Strike a scoffer and the naïve will learn caution. rebuke a discerning person and he will gain knowledge.


But they were silent, and did not answer him a word, for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.”


(let the wise listen and increase learning and the discerning obtain wise counsel)


Acquire truth and do not sell it, acquire wisdom, instruction and understanding.
