My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my mitzvot.


to receive instruction in wise behavior, righteousness, justice and fairness,


Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction. Pay attention, to gain understanding.


My son, keep my words and treasure my mitzvot within you.


Bind them on your heart continually— tie them around your neck.


I have not departed from the commands of His lips. I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.


Listen, my son, and accept my words, so the years of your life will be many.


But Miriam treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.

He who keeps Torah is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
