The wise fears and turns away from evil, but the fool is hotheaded and reckless.


And He said to mankind, ‘The fear of the Lord —that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.”’


Therefore, since we have these promises, loved ones, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of body and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.


the king exclaimed, “Is this not the great Babylon that I have built as the royal residence by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”


But give as tzadakah those things that are within, and indeed everything is pure to you.


The fear of Adonai is a fountain of life, turning one from the snares of death.


To fear Adonai is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and a perverse mouth.


Lovingkindness and truth preserve the king, but his throne is upheld by lovingkindness.


He made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts through faith.


The earlier governors, those preceding me, placed heavy burdens on the people, and took bread and wine from them, in addition to forty shekels of silver. Their attendants also lorded over the people. But I did not do so, out of fear of God.


Then I said, “The thing that you are doing is not good! Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God, in order to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies?


Now that you have purified your souls in obedience to the truth, leading to sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from a pure heart.


Also submit yourselves to one another out of reverence for Messiah—


Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He trims so that it may bear more fruit.


Surely His salvation is near those who fear Him, so that glory may dwell in our land.


Abraham said, “Because I thought, ‘There is certainly no fear of God in this place, so they’ll kill me, because of my wife.’


Yet the midwives feared God, so they did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the boys live.


So Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that His fear may be in you, so that you do not sin.”


Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Adonai and turn away from evil.


Adonai abhors all the proud in heart. Be assured, they will not go unpunished.


You are not to cheat one another, but fear your God, for I am Adonai your God.


Nor is it across the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross over for us to the other side of the sea and get it for us, and have us hear it so we may do it?’


Let kindness and truth never leave you— bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.


The one who walks uprightly fears Adonai, but one devious in his ways despises Him.


Therefore, O king, may my counsel be acceptable to you: Renounce your sins through righteousness and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps your prosperity will be prolonged.”
