So he arose and ate and drank, and in the strength of that meal forty days and forty nights went to Horeb, the mountain of God.


So he stayed there with Adonai for 40 days and 40 nights, and he did not eat bread or drink water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant: the Ten Words.


For we do not have a kohen gadol who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin.


Because He Himself suffered when put to the test, He is able to help those being tested.


When I went up the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that Adonai cut with you, I stayed on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights; I did not eat bread or drink water.


Now Jacob’s well was there. So Yeshua, exhausted from the journey, was sitting by the well. It was midday.


“Then I fell down before Adonai like the first time, for 40 days and 40 nights. I did not eat bread or drink water—because of all your sin that you committed, doing evil in Adonai’s sight, provoking Him to anger.


Now early in the morning, as He was returning to the city, He became hungry.


After He had fasted for forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.


He made a proclamation saying: “In Nineveh, by the decree of the king and his nobles, no man or beast, herd or flock, may taste anything. They must not graze nor drink water.


“Go! Gather together all the Jews who are in Shushan and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast in the same way. Afterwards, I will go in to the king, even though it is not according to the law. So if I perish, I perish!”


For forty days that Philistine would come out every morning and evening to present himself.


“So I threw myself down before Adonai those 40 days and 40 nights, because Adonai had said He would destroy you.


So Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up onto the mountain. Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights.


I will put animosity between you and the woman— between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will crush his heel.


The devil said to Him, “If You are Ben-Elohim, tell this stone to become bread.”
