Why should the Egyptians say, ‘He brought them out to do evil, to slay them in the mountains, and to annihilate them from the face of the earth?’ Turn from Your fierce wrath, and relent from this destruction against Your people.


They make a shrewd plot against Your people, conspiring against Your treasured ones.


Father, glorify Your name!” Then a voice came out of heaven, “I have glorified it, and again I will glorify it!”


Between the porch and the altar let the kohanim, ministers of Adonai, weep, and let them say: “Have pity, Adonai, on Your people. Don’t make Your heritage a scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should the peoples say, ‘Where is their God?’”


But I acted, for the sake of My Name, to keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations, where they were, in whose sight I made Myself known to them, to bring them out from the land of Egypt.


Otherwise the land from which You brought us out may say, “Because Adonai was not able to bring them into the land that He spoke of to them, and because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.”


Moses said to Adonai, “The Egyptians will hear about it, because You brought up this people by Your power from among them.


Oh my Lord, what can I say, now that Israel has turned its back before its enemies?


Then Adonai said to Joshua, “Arise! Why are you fallen on your face?


For Adonai will not forsake His people for His great Name’s sake, because it has pleased Adonai to make you a people to Himself.


We have meditated on Your lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of Your Temple.


Help us, God of our salvation— for the sake of the glory of Your Name. Deliver us, and atone for our sins— for Your name’s sake.


“Come,” they say, “let’s wipe them out as a nation! Let Israel’s name be remembered no more!”


Not to us, Adonai, not to us, but to Your Name be the glory— because of Your love and Your faithfulness.


Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her— she who said to me: “Where is Adonai, your God?” My eyes will gaze at her— now she will be trampled like mud in streets.
