Thus says Adonai: For three crimes of Moab even for four, I will not relent. For he burned the bones of Edom’s king to lime,


Moab will be destroyed as a people, because he boasted against Adonai.


“Make him drunk, for he exalted himself against Adonai. So Moab will wallow in his vomit and also become a laughingstock.


A sword on the diviners—fools! A sword on her warriors—shattered!

Your covenant with death is annulled, and your pact with Sheol will not stand. An overflowing scourge will pass through and you will be its trampling place.

The man of haughty eyes is humbled, the lofty ones brought low, for Adonai alone will be exalted in that day.


Likewise, you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”


A proud and haughty man —Mocker is his name— acts with overbearing pride.


When he spreads his hands in it as a swimmer spreads his hands to swim, his pride will be brought down low together with the trickery of his hands.


The burden of Moab. For in the night that Ar is devastated, Moab is ruined; for in the night that Kir is devastated, Moab is ruined.


For the hand of Adonai will rest on this mountain. Moab will be trampled under Him, as straw is trampled in a manure pile.


How can you say: ‘We are warriors and men valiant for battle’?
