even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a violent man. Yet I was shown mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,


as for zeal, persecuting Messiah’s community; as for Torah righteousness, found blameless.


For you have heard of my earlier behavior in Judaism—how I persecuted God’s community beyond measure and tried to destroy it.


For I am the least of the emissaries, unworthy to be called an emissary because I persecuted God’s community.


“And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that in one synagogue after another, I was imprisoning and beating those trusting in You.


All those hearing him were amazed. They were saying, “Isn’t this the one who made havoc in Jerusalem for all those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to bring them as prisoners before the ruling kohanim?”


Driving him out of the city, they began stoning him, and the witnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul.


But you have dishonored the poor person. Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?


Some devout men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.


But when her masters saw that the hope of profit was gone, they grabbed Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities.
