On the contrary, after we had first suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to tell you the Good News of God—even in the midst of much opposition.

But while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jewish leaders made a united attack against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,


But some of the Jewish people became jealous. Taking some wicked fellows of the marketplace and gathering a crowd, they stirred the city into an uproar. They attacked Jason’s house, trying to bring Paul and Silas out to the mob.


But Paul said to the officers, “They have beaten us publicly without a trial—men who are Roman citizens—and have thrown us into prison. And now they are sending us away secretly? No! Let them come themselves and lead us out!”


called in the emissaries, flogged them, ordered them not to continue speaking in the name of Yeshua, and let them go.


Then he released to them Bar-Abba. And after he had Yeshua scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.


But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues.


And when they bring you to the synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not worry about how you should defend yourself or what you should say,
